There are two ways to update from version 1.5.2 or earlier. The first method is a little easier, but the second method creates a special item for opening the OtherMenu Folder and makes sure that the OtherMenu Folder has the right icon.
Method 1:
1. Move the new version of OtherMenu, and OtherMenu AE Helper, into the Extensions folder, replacing the old OtherMenu.
2. Move the new externals into whatever folder you use for externals. You can also throw away the old Preferences and Memory Usage externals, since those functions are now available as standard menu items.
3. Restart your Mac.
4. The last item of the OtherMenu should have submenu of 3 items, one of which is Preferences. Use it to open the Preferences dialog. Then define the folders for the volume items and the 3 types of recent items.
Method 2:
1. Move the new version of OtherMenu, and OtherMenu AE Helper, into the Extensions folder, replacing the old OtherMenu.
2. Move the new externals into whatever folder you use for externals.
3. Restart your Mac.
4. Open your System Folder and locate the OtherMenu Folder. Make a new folder, and name it something like OM Temp. Move the contents of the OtherMenu Folder into OM Temp.
5. Trash the now-empty OtherMenu Folder, and empty the trash. (It would not suffice just to move it elsewhere.)
6. When you attempt to pull down the Other menu, there will be a delay of a few seconds, and then a new OtherMenu Folder should appear.
7. Move the contents of the OM Temp folder, except for the volume aliases and obsolete externals, into the new OtherMenu Folder.
